Item Number 56

This is Tinker Bell at her most cuddly. Don’t you agree? It’s snuggle-up time and this photo answers the age-old question; “Where do fairies sleep?” Of course the answer has always been obvious but not until this photo could I absolutely prove that fairies sleep in nests! (And they don’t change into a nightgown! Did you notice?)

Now, most nests are not as plush as the one Tinker Bell is curled up in. Look at those jewel colors of mauve, lavender, purple with a muted yellow. Looks like House & Garden decorators had a hand in the décor. No, this is an artist’s creation. Artists love to draw Tinker Bell. She’s such a great model. The problem is that she hates to hold a pose for very long. I suspect that’s why this artist placed Tink in whisper-soft feather nest where she just might relax.

I had no trouble holding a pose as long as director Marc Davis wanted when I was called to Disney Studio to do the live-action work in Tinker Bell’s behalf. You see, I started working in films when I was four years old. On the set of Warner Brothers "Midsummer Night’s Dream" or Hal Roach’s "Our Gang" comedies, all of us tiny tots quickly learned the discipline of “BE QUIET and STAND STILL” before the director called “ACTION.” If we hadn’t learned, we might not be called again. A tragedy for a family.

My mother died when I was three and my dear adopted parents realized that I was cute (as a Tinker Bell) and talented, so they put me in the movies. It was the depression era and money was scarce. I could make as much as $8.50 a day! That was a lot then, and I felt that standing still and being terribly bored (and sometimes scared) was worth it. I modeled for several portrait painters in my time and they were always amazed at my ability to hold a pose. Never told them my secret. I let them think I was one in a million.

Well, enough about me and back to the dreamy photo of Tinker Bell. Isn’t she… Wait a minute. I thought I saw her wings flutter. No, it couldn’t be. Hmmm…

By the bye -- there is a preprinted message that will tickle you. It says, "Feather your nest with fun and fantasy" followed by the name of the legendary pixie, "Tinker Bell." Below her name I personally hand write my name since I am Tink’s reference model and alter ego, Margaret Kerry. She will be a fun addition to your collection.

A certificate of authenticity and a copy of this story will be included when you receive your signed photo.
